Welcome to the Memphis Bonsai Society

The Memphis Bonsai Society is dedicated to the study, promotion and practice of the ancient art of Bonsai (Bone-Sigh: Japanese for "Tree in a Tray") and the exchange of information among the members and community in the care, cultivation, propagation, design, survival and protection of the trees.  It shall also serve as a source of information for and a link between the bonsai community, the media and the general public. We invite anyone with any interest whatsoever in this restful and rewarding endeavor to attend a meeting to learn more about this ancient art.  Meetings are usually held on the 4th Tuesday of the Month (July and August excluded) at the Memphis Botanic Garden at 7 PM.

Our meetings generally host a demonstration artist and / or workshop. In years past we have had the pleasure of experiencing such great bonsai artists as: Jim Doyle, Chase Rosade, Randy Clark, and Kathy Shaner.  What an experience it was to be able to watch as they work their magic before our very eyes.
